Job Description
Position Summary:
This is a tenure-track faculty position. History faculty are expected to primarily teach AMH 2010-Early American History and AMH 2020-Modern American History; other courses are taught as needed. HCC faculty are expected to contribute to the college community through committee work, on-going professional development, and collaborative curriculum development. Love of teaching is primary.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in history or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in history.
To be considered, applicants must have been awarded the qualifying degree and/or qualifying graduate semester hours.
Prefer Qualifications:
Demonstrated instructional experience at the post-secondary level. The ability to teach an evening course if necessary. Instructional knowledge of CANVAS or another learning management system (LMS); and a commitment to students through exceptional teaching and learning.

A faculty screening committee will analyze the strength of your application materials. Applicants with a qualifying degree from an educational institution outside the United States and Canada must submit a foreign credential evaluation from one of the members of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services (website: www.naces.org). To complete your application, you must attach a copy of your graduate academic transcripts from an accredited institution of higher education, showing attainment of at least the minimum qualifications. The faculty screening committee will select the top candidates for an interview that includes comprehensive questions and may require a teaching demonstration.
Pay Rate:
Faculty members will be assigned to the appropriate salary grade based on the contract with the faculty union
- Grade 2: Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in field $50,421.94
- Grade 2+: Master’s Degree with 30 graduate semester hours in the field $53,004.11
- Grade 1: PhD in major field $55,587.43
Up to four salary steps may be applied to the starting salary based on experience.
