Adjunct Faculty – Music Production

Position Overview

The Department of Media Arts at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor of Music Production for the spring semester beginning January 27, 2025. This position is to teach MUS 114: Popular Music Theory II and MUS 114L: Popular Music Theory II Lab. MUS 114 and 114L are the second courses in a two-semester theory sequence for Music Production majors.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Master’s degree or higher in area related to music (performance, composition, theory, musicology, ethnomusicology) or Bachelor’s degree and three years of field-related experience
  • In-person instruction on Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:10-2:40p (MUS 114), and Wednesdays 10:20-11:20a (MUS 114L)
  • Demonstrated ability to engage a diverse student population
  • Conversant in popular music genres
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn Canvas learning management system
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required. 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience teaching at the university level
