Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Public Safety at Lincoln Center, the Duty Supervisor leads all patrol activities to support the safety and security of the Fordham community at Lincoln Center.

 

This position is scheduled for a 12-hour tour.

 

Essential Functions        

  • Leads, trains and closely monitors the performance of personnel to ensure the highest quality of service.
  • Directs patrol and access control activities to mitigate risk.
  • Responds to calls for service and provides immediate medical attention as needed.
  • Directs Public Safety asset activity, including apprehensions, searches, recovered property and all actions taken by Public Safety personnel.
  • Patrols all campus buildings, guard posts and surrounding areas of the university on tour of duty.
  • Conducts inspections of assigned buildings, campus property, and vehicles; provides written reports to the Campus Director.
  • Conducts follow-up investigations and prepares detailed written reports, working closely with the Department Investigator.
  • Investigates derelictions of duty and takes appropriate action to prevent a future occurrence.
  • Directs traffic and crowd control at special events, commencement, and emergency situations.
  • Operates University vehicles in compliance with federal, state, local regulations and insurance requirements.

Management Responsibilities  

Guides work of other employees who perform essentially the same work and/or student workers. Organizes, sets priorities, schedules and reviews work, but is generally not responsible for final decisions in hiring, performance management or compensation.

 

Additional Functions      

  • Interacts with the public, students, employees, and outside non-affiliates.

 

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience        

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years experience in federal, state or local law enforcement.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain New York State Armed Guard License.
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License.

 

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills     

  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies.
  • High-level problem solving skills.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience leading or supervising others.

 

Minimum Starting Salary: $82,400

 

Maximum Starting Salary: $87,400

 

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
