Sr. Reseach Program Coordinator

Job Description

This position serves as Sr. Research Program Coordinator to the Center for HIV and Mental Health Stigma Elimination Strategies (CHIMES). CHIMES aims to build capacity for the measurement of stigma and development of interventions focused on responding to stigma as a threat to both mental health and suboptimal individual and population-level HIV outcomes in the United States and around the world. This center will also support emerging and established investigators via creation of interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing pathways, building on long-standing partnerships in stigma and funded HIV research. CHIMES is structured by four distinct cores: Administrative Core, Stigma Measurement Core, Stigma Intervention Core, and the Development Core.

We are seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator who will work closely with the Program Administrator across the respective Center cores and will be responsible for supporting the day-today coordination of CHIMES. The role requires demonstrated competencies in strategic planning and execution; community engagement; and evaluation of timely completion of program deliverables. Given the topical intersection, this position will also support stigma-related programs across the Stigma Metrics and Stigma Index portfolios.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

General Coordination

  • Develop Center coordination plans and timelines with key milestones, proposal and standard operating procedures as guided by the Project Administrator. Closely monitor adherence to these plans to ensure milestones and deliverables are met by coordinating with multiple faculty members from Johns Hopkins and Emory, as well as with community-based organizations and additional partners.
  • Manage multiple priorities across Center aims and cores, including the scientific and administrative design and implementation of core activities.
  • Proactively build relationships with CHIMES leadership, students, advisory boards members, affiliate faculty, and other related personnel and partners, including cross-sector, interagency, and community-based organizations and networks.
  • Provide coordination of Center activities/services through a high level of organization, accuracy, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Support establishment of a professional community advisory board (CAB) and develop proof of concept to be expanded upon.
  • Liaise between CAB members and Core directors for provision of training and for coordination of quarterly meetings/workshops.
  • Applicable responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Requirements and Dissemination

  • Outline plans for dissemination for Center deliverables in alignment with Center coordination plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual (and quarterly) progress performance reports and grant renewal applications.
  • Identify and co-facilitate bidirectional learning opportunities between community and academia locally in the United States and around the world (i.e., attend Johns Hopkins/Emory events to promote CHIMES, informing faculty of opportunities and services that the Center provides).
  • Engage in deliverable development and submission via appropriate channels of dissemination (i.e., a special issue focused on stigma theory, measures, and interventions; peer-to-peer newsletter).
  • Prepare other dissemination products as needed.

Administrative

  • Identify and implement improvements to program efficiencies (i.e., better and faster ways to accomplish tasks, as well as opportunities for reducing costs).
  • Organize program meetings, conferences, seminars, and events.
  • Participate in calls with Co-Directors across Center cores and assist with development of meting meetings; proactively engaging in follow-up activities and support coordination of meeting management.
  • Complete all appropriate compliance trainings—as is applicable.
  • Assist with other Center activities as requested and contribute to project synergies across stigma-related project portfolios (i.e., engagement in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analyses).

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, including proactiveness and timely responsiveness are necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated self-management with the ability to work on multiple tasks with short and/or competing deadlines is necessary.
  • Comfort engaging with a diverse team on projects related to human rights, historically marginalized populations, and sexual and gender diverse communities.
  • Prior collaborative research experience is desired.
  • Experience working and collaborating with multi-disciplinary partners, implementing partners, and/or healthcare providers is desired.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Epidemiology or related field/discipline (Public Health; Program Management; Business).
