Job Description
STAFF ASSOCIATE I, ADVISING AND PROACTIVE SUPPORT INITIATIVES, Undergraduate Advising Center (UAC)-Advising and Academic Achievement, to join UAC’s Advising and Academic Achievement subunit and assume responsibility for maintaining an advising caseload of undergraduate students, and assisting with projects related to the implementation of a new Student Success Platform (SSP) and initiatives related to proactively supporting students with at-risk factors. Responsibilities include serving as the primary academic advisor to a cohort of first-year students and secondary advisor to a cohort of upper-level students; advising students on course selection, resource navigation, degree planning, career paths, graduate school opportunities, etc.; providing individualized academic and personal advising to students; maintaining records; collaborating on developing and maintaining training materials and facilitating in-person and virtual SSP training sessions; assisting with developing processes/initiatives to support students identified as having at-risk factors; collaborating on developing and delivering student success workshops; and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; least one year of advising, counseling, or academic administration experience; proficiency using technology platforms and digital tools and ability to quickly learn new technologies; proven organizational, communication, and program development skills; ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences, including developing and facilitating workshops; experience collaborating with diverse campus stakeholders to enhance support initiatives for students; support for MIT’s commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion; ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively present data related to student success, advising effectiveness, and/or programmatic outcomes; and adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment and the ability to embrace and manage changes as they arise. Starting salary range: $56,600 - $65,000
This is a full-time, hybrid position that requires working three days per week on-campus during the academic year with the understanding that more of an in-person presence may be required during peak periods, such as orientation, registration, and other critical times throughout the year. This may include working occasional evenings and weekends.
