We are seeking a HR Generalist to join our hard working and fast-paced team. The experienced HR Generalist will be responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise along with assisting in providing a wide range of HR support and advice. The HR Generalist will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on recruitment, terminations, performance management, employee relations and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and the management team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Functions as HR contact for the Division. Ensures consistent application of HR policies, practices, procedures and compliance with state and federal laws.
- Organizes, coordinates and implements the recruitment process which includes: identifying most effective coordinating sourcing channels (social media sourcing, colleges/universities, trade schools, referrals, job fairs, on-line job boards appropriate for the job. Monitor channels’ effectiveness.
- Partners with hiring managers/supervisors to identify and understand personnel needs, job specifications, duties, qualifications and skills necessary to recruit for the position.
- Assesses potential candidates for fit within the position identified including skills, education and experience
- Oversees internal posting process and ensure managers and employees understand and adhere to process.
- Coordinates and promotes employee referral program.
- Conducts pre & post employment processing to include: testing, criminal background, motor vehicle, e-verify, reference checks schedules drug screens, drive tests, physicals and other related recruitment duties.
- Conducts new hire orientation.
- Monitors and ensures adherence to recruiting standards and process compliance.
- Investigates and initiates partnerships with appropriate EEO/AAP outreach agencies.
- Maintains applicant tracking system and associated AAP related processing.
- Ensures position descriptions are up to date and develops standardized interview guides.
- Other generalist duties to include:
- Recommending new approaches, policies and procedures to maintain efficient and effective services.
- Conducting exit interviews.
- Works with time-sensitive deadliness.
- Adherence to the Company’s Core Values.
- Conducts other related duties of which the above are representative.
- Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years’ experience in the human resource profession, or the equivalent in work experience.
- Experience working with a unionized workforce as a Human Resources Manager is preferred.
- Manufacturing and/or distribution experience is preferred.
- Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Professional Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification is preferred.
- Effective communication skills – written, verbal and listening skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, confidentiality laws, OSHA safety laws and Employment laws.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at a time.
- Ability to travel on an as needed basis.
