Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director, the Student Engagement Specialist at the
Lincoln Center Campus is an instrumental member of the Career Center team
who works most closely with our undergraduate population.
With a focus on directly supporting students, this role involves personalized
career counseling, planning and executing professional development workshops
and initiatives, liasoning with University partners to better serve students,
promoting our brand and offerings to students, and managing our Fordham
Career Ambassador student program.
In collaboration with the Associate Director of the Lincoln Center office, as well as
other members of the Career Center team, this position is at the center of
planning the great work we do each academic year for freshmen, sophomores,
juniors, and seniors.
A successful candidate will not only continue established programming,
practices, and partnerships, but also aim to grow and expand the ways we
interact with and engage our students. Combined with a dedication and
commitment toward student success, the Student Engagement Specialist has the
opportunity to shape both Fordham University students and the future of the
Career Center itself.
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work.
Essential Functions
∙ Acts as the key Student Engagement Specialist for the Lincoln Center (LC)
Campus.
∙ Develops and executes career-related programming, outreach, and
partnerships for the LC Campus student population across various majors,
academic years, industries, and professional interests.
∙ Engages in individual and group career counseling sessions on topics
including, but not limited to: resumes, cover letters, interviewing,
networking, LinkedIn. and job search strategies.
∙ Delivers relevant and innovative professional development for students via
general or tailored workshops; serves as liaison to the Office of Student
Involvement, Residential Life, and select academic departments at the LC
Campus to advance professional development initiatives; develops and
updates the calendar of professional development events including
webinars, career support groups, and networking prep events.
∙ Coordinates tabling and on-campus events to promote Career Center
programming, opportunities, connections, Handshake platform, blog site,
social media pages, and additional resources.
∙ Cultivates strategic relationships with campus partners such as student
clubs and organizations, Office of Student Involvement, Residential Life,
and relevant faculty, to enhance career-related opportunities for students.
∙ Directs and supervises the Fordham Career Ambassador (FCA) student
program at the LC Campus; oversees FCA recruitment, training, and
advising, and collaborates with them to develop special programs and
events for other students and further promote our brand recognition.
∙ Works closely with the Associate Director of the LC Campus Career
Center to manage the day-to-day logistical operations of the office.
∙ Oversees the strategic marketing and promotion of events, programs, and
department requests at the LC Campus in collaboration with the Career
Center Marketing & Digital Media Communications Coordinator; works
campuses; creates opportunities through technology, artificial intelligence,
and innovation to better promote events, programming, and services.
∙ Develops specialized networking opportunities for Fordham students in
collaboration with university partners.
∙ Designs and conducts presentations for all Fordham students as well as
targeted offerings for unique student groups, clubs, and organizations that
take into account core Jesuit values.
∙ Cultivates cohesive long-term relationships with faculty, university
partners, the Student Affairs division, and student leaders to increase the
quantity and quality of student engagement in line with our strategic goals.
∙ Represents the Career Center at orientations, university training, and
professional development events.
∙ Attends various on-campus and off-campus events, including university
and alumni events.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
∙ B.A./B.S. in relevant area
∙ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in higher education, career services,
human resources, or employer relations.
∙ Significant and related work experience will be considered in lieu of
completing academic qualifications.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
∙ Must be knowledgeable of latest technological advancements/resources in
career services and have a strong understanding of the leading
technology concerning social media, hiring best practices, and human
resource training and development.
∙ Must possess excellent planning, leadership, management, organizational,
interpersonal, public speaking, and time-management skills and ability.
∙ Must be creative, highly motivated, and have excellent written and verbal
communication skills.
∙ Experience working with, and/or supporting, college students in group and
individual settings.
∙ Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to
Preferred Qualifications
∙Receival of, or interest in, a M.A./M.S./M.S.Ed. in relevant area..
Minimum Starting Salary: $62,400
Maximum Starting Salary: $63,400
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
